Bast Fibre Tech is a business ecosystem. We are a coordinated team of plant biologists, growers, engineers, manufacturing specialists, and business leaders bound together by a shared passion for natural fibres.

As upstream innovators, we have engineered technical natural fibres that make it possible to design out plastic from many consumer fabrics. Together with our partners, we are making a difference in the battle against plastic pollution.

How we've grown

2016 | Company Founding

Established roots in Western Canada to develop technical natural fibres as innovative upstream solutions for the global plastics crisis.

2016-20 | Research & Development

Extensive early phase R&D, intellectual property build out, product development, and scale up of our technical natural fibre platform.

2020-22 | Team Expansion

People investment grows our team to 60+ fibre industry professionals & sustainability leaders in Canada, USA, Germany, Switzerland & Denmark.

2021-22 | Manufacturing Capacity

We establish and develop our EU & North American manufacturing capacity by acquiring facilities in NRW, Germany and NC, USA.

2022 | sero™ Commercialization

Working with our European commercial partners, we launch the first consumer products containing our next-gen sero™ natural fibres.

2022 | Onward

A major strategic financial partnership allows us to target an expansion of our annual natural fibre manufacturing capacity to over 50,000 tonnes.

We are working to impart meaningful change in our communities and the environment.
